“We are stories in perpetual motion”

Barbara Scavotto-Earley is best known for her clay and steel narratives of humans being. Brimming with diversity, mystery, universality and frequent humor, her sculptures are propelled by personal experiences, observations and musings. As she avows the essence of body language, the terminologies of human form are expressed through a medley and melody of form, posture and gesture.

Scavotto has exhibited widely in galleries, museums, public spaces and fundraising projects in New England, New York, New Mexico and Canada, including several solo shows. After earning her teaching degree from Southern CT State University, she pursued studies in Ceramics at Wesleyan University, Art Therapy at the University of CA and Welding at Baran Institute. She founded and directed ARTBEATZ where she nurtured creative minds of all ages for thirty three blissful years. Books and Press have featured her Art including 500 Figures in Clay, The Golden Thread Project, Ceramics Monthly, Art New England, The Hartford Courant and The Hartford Advocate.

Among her awards are two Individual Artist Fellowship Grants from the Greater Hartford Arts Council, the National Medal of Honor for Sculpture and the Amelia Peabody Memorial Award from the National Association of Women Artists in NY and Best in Show Award with the CT Academy of Fine Arts. Scavotto’s affiliations include the CT Association of Women Artists, Canton Artists’ Guild-Gallery on the Green, Monson Arts Council, CT Academy of Fine Arts and Real Art Ways in Hartford, CT.

The WIT Gallery in historic Lenox, MA represents Scavotto’s Mood Swings sculptures exclusively and her commissions dwell in numerous private collections.

Scavotto lives and works in Enfield, CT.
